Paolo Cesare Maldini was born 26 June 1968 in Milan. He is an ex-Italian soccer player. He is acknowledged as one of the greatest defenders of all time.
He expended the entire 25 seasons of his career at A.C. Milan, until the age of 40. As long as that period, he won seven Italian Serie A championships, five UEFA Champions League Cups, one Coppa Italia, five Supercoppa Italiana, five UEFA Super Cups, two Intercontinental Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup.
Maldini’s Serie A first appearance came on January 20, 1985 against Udinese. Maldini is Italy’s most capped player. One of the great defenders of all time, he was debatably the best defender of his time at the peak of his career, and remains renowned for powerful captaincy, ice-cool character and sound defending.
Maldini was the first defender to win the World Soccer’s World Player of the Year Award which positions him in the same class of Michel Platini, Paolo Rossi and Zico.

On September 25, 2005, Maldini broke Dino Zoff’s Serie A appearance record after playing his 571st league match against Treviso F.B.C.; seven days earlier, he had played his 800th game in all competitions for Milan. On February 16, 2008, Maldini reached 1,000 senior games with AC Milan and Italy when he entered as a substitute against Parma.
Paulo Maldini expended 14 years with the Italian national team, making his first appearance in 1988 and retiring in 2002 with 126 caps and 7 goals.
